Van Scrappage: Does this affect the van leasing market?
The government announced plans to add a further £100 million to the scrappage scheme on 28 September 2009. This means that the scheme will now cover up to 400,000 vehicles.
The rules of the scheme will be unchanged except for the date of first registration in the UK, and apply only to the purchase of a new vehicle and does not extend to cheap van leasing.
Citroen sold more vans under the scrappage discount scheme than any other manufacturer for the third month in a row during November.
Sales of LCVs were 152 for the company during November – an amazing 26% of the total number of LCVs sold through the scrappage scheme.
It sold a total of 548 vans over September, October and November via the scheme – 25.7% of the total number.
There have been 825 Citroen registrations under scrappage since the successful scheme was launched in the spring.
Citroen's Robert Handyside, Commercial Operations Manager, said recently:"Many of the UK businesses with older vans, have been very happy to upgrade them to a modern version.”
Figures released in the month of September named Citroën as the number one choice for new van buyers.
During the month, one van in ten made was sold by Citroen. The total reached was 2,876 registrations, with sales split fairly equally between the Nemo, Dispatch and Relay vans.
Find and contact you nearest dealer to see if they have joined the government's vehicle discount scheme. They will check that your vehicle and the new vehicle you want to buy both meet the rules of the scheme. When you have agreed a sale, the dealer will take over the paperwork and coordinate the scrapping of your old vehicle.
