Take Payments Over The Telephone
Almost all of us these days possess own credit cards and make payments for daily purchases using this card. People’s lives have become busier due to which they do not find time to do other things; one of which include paying their bills and making payments. This however can now be done on the telephone thanks to the development of technology.
Processing credit cards on the telephone is an easy and very simple task. Apart from that, it does not cost much either. Payments can be processed by making use of portable telephone, a mobile phone or even a regular cord phone. This form of payment is particularly best for those traders and merchants who do not have a large volume of sales. The best part of being able to pay using your cell phone is that no new equipment needs to be purchased and this saves money as well.
You just need to be aware of the payment procedures over the telephone. What you need to do is get the details of your customer which you will require. Certain things which you should know are his/her address, the number of the credit card and its type, the expiry date of the card and the security code. Ensure that you and your customer agree on the amount which is to be paid or else this could result in the payment being reversed.
If you are making use of software or a credit card machine, make sure that the machine is ready to accepting a new payment transaction. Next, press the sales key and follow the instructions thereafter provided to you. The procedure to be undertaken is different for every type of the machine being used. However mostly every machine will require your customers information.
Your last step would be to print the receipt. Once the transaction has been approved, the machine will itself print two copies; one for keeping your records and the other would be for handing over to the customer. The customers receipt would require the ‘phone order’ to be marked. By doing this, you would be able to show the record of the payment having been done through the phone if anything goes wrong. Having a duplicate of every receipt is extremely important and advisable as it helps in keeping a record of the types and number of orders and payments received by your company.
