Recession Indirectly Affects Other Large Industries

At the center of the housing market and property value collapse is Phoenix, Arizona – one of the hardest hit locations in the country.  Property values are down by hundreds of thousands of dollars, while in some extreme cases, overall home values are 1/2 of what they were just twenty four months prior.  Loss of equity has caused some residents to just vacate their homes, in fact, bank repossessions are higher than they have ever been.
